The Eden Café gets the ground shaking with a new arts and music night
The Eden Café in St Austell is hosting a new event, We Are Not an Earthquake, on Friday August 24 to celebrate the best of local talent.
The night will feature a mixture of music, art and poetry, including local musician Jack Wallen and spoken word artist Aaron Kent.
Jack, who recently played at the Eden Sessions during the Tim Minchin gig, will be performing as part of his mini-tour of the South West. His laid-back acoustic sound and soulful songs have made him a rising star of the local music scene.
Truro based Aaron uses his talent with the spoken word to cover comedy, politics and even a popular song or two. After stints at the Port Eliot Festival and The Daily Telegraph’s Ways with Words Festival, he is on top of his game with his new debut EP Draw!
Seventeen year old singing sensation Georgie Rose will also be playing. Georgie recently performed at the Peace Mix Play Off event held at the Eden Project. Through Peace Mix, a Big Lottery funded initiative inspiring young people to develop their musical skills, she has shown off her beautiful folk melodies throughout the UK and will be performing alongside Tinchy Stryder at the Roundhouse in London later this month.
In addition, Penzance based artist Mat McIvor will be creating a piece of work throughout the evening, which will be available to buy at the end of the night.
Ashley Van Dyck, Eden Café Manager, said: “I’m really proud to be able to gather up some of the most inspiring people of the local arts and music scene to create a night like this. It’s a chance for people to have fun, be entertained and discover something new.”
Doors open at 7:30pm and tickets cost £4 or £3 for concessions and tickets bought at the café beforehand.
There will be a selection of food served until 9pm, including sharing platters and delicious homemade cakes.
