This Sunday (March 17) is the last chance for people to join the second round of Cornwall Together, the pioneering collective energy-buying scheme.

Since the second round of the project opened last month, some members have saved hundreds of pounds on their energy bills by switching providers through Cornwall Together and accessing the exclusive discounts on market-leading tariffs available to members.

In the first round late last year, members saved a collective £150,000 and this time the initiative aims to win people an even better deal. It’s free to join and the more people who switch, the better the price will be.

Matt Hastings, Programme Manager of Cornwall Together, said: “Cornwall Together has been brilliant so far and some people have made significant savings.

“While we’re nearing the end of the round, there’s still time for people to join in. Grab a bill and take five minutes to enter your details into the website or call the 0800 number and you could make a real difference to your household budget.

“There really is nothing to lose – joining and switching is free and you’re under no obligation to change your supplier. What’s more, you’ll be part of a major community initiative with ambitions to revolutionise the way we buy products and services forever.”

For those who would like to find out more, the Cornwall Together roadshow will be travelling the county in the coming week to talk to people about their bills and help them join the project if they’d like to.

Members of Cornwall Together can now see the savings they can make as soon as they join, rather than waiting until the end of the sign-up window on March 17.

For online dual fuel customers paying by Direct Debit, First Utility are offering Cornwall Together members a £40 money back deal on top of its best market rate. If 10,000 switches take place, the cash back for everyone switching their gas and electricity to First Utility through the project will rise to £50.

Households that use pre-payment meters and those who prefer to pay their bills with cash or cheque can switch to the British Gas Clear and Simple Tariff with additional Cornwall Together discounts.

Single fuel customers (gas or electric only) will get £10 back if 5,000 switches take place, rising to £25 with 10,000 switches. Dual fuel customers will get £50 cash back, rising to £70 for 5,000 switches and £100 for 10,000 switches.

Members of Cornwall Together will be given details of the above offers, but will also be told about the best energy deal currently available on the market for their individual circumstances. They will also be able to get a quote for the best green energy tariff on the market.

Cornwall Together is free and there is no obligation to switch. People can see how much they could save by entering a few details from a recent energy bill at or by calling 0800 772 0925.
