Disco superstars CHIC feat. Nile Rodgers, who worked with Daft Punk on their infectious current number one Get Lucky, have been confirmed as special guests at the Eden Session headlined by The xx on Tuesday July 2.

CHIC have been stalwarts of the disco, pop and hip-hop scenes since their formation in the late seventies.

With tracks such as Le Freak, I Want Your Love, Everybody Dance, My Forbidden Lover and Good Times, they quickly became a hot property and started writing and producing for some massive names, including Diana Ross.

As a solo artist, Rodgers produced some of the biggest albums of the 20th century, including David Bowie’s Let’s Dance and Like a Virgin by Madonna. He also featured on Michael Jackson’s Money, from the HIStory album.

CHIC feat. Nile Rodgers join The xx, who released their second studio album Coexist this September and hit the top of the UK album charts as well as making it into the US top ten.

Coexist follows the London trio’s eponymous platinum-selling debut album which won the Mercury Music Prize in 2009 and was ranked highly in many best of the year lists, including second in the NME and the top ten in Rolling Stone.

Nile Rodgers said: “We're looking forward to setting the Eden Project alight with the sound of disco in July and are proud to be special guests to the incredible xx. Get ready…”

The xx said: “CHIC and Nile Rodgers have been enormously influential on modern-day music, including our own. It's a surreal honour having them play with us at the Eden Sessions.”

Rita Broe, Eden’s Strategic Marketing Director, said: “Nile Rodgers is a living legend and it will be a privilege to welcome him to the Sessions. He has written some of the best disco tracks in history as well as producing for some of the greatest artists of all time. This will be an amazing Session!”

The Eden Sessions are entering their 12th year in 2013 following an acclaimed series of gigs in 2012 headlined by Blink-182, Plan B, Tim Minchin, Chase & Status, Noah and the Whale, The Vaccines, Example and Frank Turner.

Live footage of some of the biggest bands in the world playing at the Eden Sessions is now available to fans for free. The exclusive live videos, which were shot at Eden Sessions gigs since 2002, have been released onto a dedicated YouTube channel called Eden Sessions TV at New tracks and artists will be added to channel regularly.

The 2013 Eden Sessions line-up will be headlined by Eddie Izzard (June 3), Kaiser Chiefs (June 29), Sigur Rós (June 30), The xx (July 2) and Jessie J (July 13 and 14).
