The Eden Project is aglow with the spirit of Christmas this December, as Father Christmas has set up his base in the heart of the former clay pit and brought along his team of elves and reindeer too.

Visitors can take part in a magical experience where they greeted by elves as they arrive and given a special letter from Father Christmas with a challenge to help collect all of the food needed from across the globe to create the food that makes his reindeer fly.

After exploring Eden and visiting the reindeer, families can then snuggle up inside Father Christmas's cosy tent and listen to captivating fireside stories. Each child will then receive a keepsake to look after until Christmas Eve.

Father Christmas will be at Eden every Friday, Saturday and Sunday until December 23, as well as on Thursday, December 19 and Monday December 23.  The experience costs £5 for children and £3 for adults on top of normal admission, with sessions taking place on the hour from 11am.

Elsewhere on site there will be activities for visitors of every age, as Eden explores the ingredients that make Christmas special with choirs and live music, exhibitions that demonstrate the power of hope, workshops and fun surprises celebrating the generous spirit of the season.

Each Saturday and Sunday night will end with a beautiful lantern parade, where people can join the procession around Eden’s outdoor gardens led by local band Bragantanga, which ends with a fire finale and fireworks. For the first time ever, people will be able to make their own lanterns in special workshops that take place from 11am until 1pm.

Emma Hogg, Eden Live Programme Producer, said: “We’ve gathered together all of the essential elements of Christmas in one place to give visitors a truly enchanting experience, from the warmth of Father Christmas’s stories, to the delight of our stunning lantern parades and the opportunity to make a special present for someone else.”

Eden’s ice rink is also open throughout the Christmas season, with a 40 minute skate costing £6, and a whole host of sessions for all of the family
