Japanese alternative rock band Tricot are to be the special guests when Pixies play the Eden Sessions on July 9.

Also on the bill for the 2014 Eden Sessions with ASUS Transformer Book are Dizzee Rascal and Katy B (June 21), Skrillex (June 25), Ellie Goulding (July 8 – sold out), and Elbow (July 14 – sold out – and July 15). The 2014 headliners have all now been announced.

Tricot are made up of three female founding members: Ikkyu Nakajima (vocals and guitar), Motoko “Motifour” Kida (guitar and backing vocals), and Hiromi “hirohiro” Sagane (bass and backing vocals). The band formed in the historical Japanese city of Kyoto in 2010.

Their experimental music primarily consists of melodic post-rock-inspired sounds and complex rhythm reminiscent of math rock.

Tricot’s live performances vibrant and intense and they have been highly praised by fans and media.

In 2012 and 2013, they performed at most major festivals in Japan such as Arabaki Rock Fest, Fuji Rock Festival, Rock In Japan, Rising Sun Rock Festival, Monster Bash, Sweet Love Shower.

Tricot are also getting more attention internationally including music media such as NME Magazine and BBC Radio 6 Music. In 2014, three Asian labels in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Malaysia released their debut album entitled T H E.

Eden’s marketing director Rita Broe said: “The announcement of Pixies created an amazing buzz among alternative rock fans. We are sure that they will love Tricot on what promises to be an unforgettable night of brilliant music.”

The Eden Sessions with ASUS Transformer Book enter their thirteenth year in 2014 following an acclaimed series of gigs in 2013 headlined by Jessie J, Sigur Ros, The xx, Kaiser Chiefs and Eddie Izzard.
Last year also saw the launch of Eden Sessions TV, a dedicated free-to-view online channel featuring regularly-updated videos of some of the gigs’ finest shows. The channel also live-streamed the second night of Jessie J’s sold-out double-header and has already had more than a million views since its launch.
