Top reggae band BackBeat SoundSystem and exciting young soul singer Kwabs have been announced as special guests at the Eden Sessions.

BackBeat will support Dizzee Rascal and Katy B for their Eden show on Saturday June 21 while Kwabs will be Ellie Goulding’s special guest on Tuesday July 8.

Eden has also announced a new package deal for the first two Sessions, headlined by Dizzee Rascal and Skrillex. A combined ticket for both shows can now be purchased for £55 plus £5 booking fee. Those who already have tickets to one of the shows can upgrade to the combined ticket by paying the difference. More acts are set to announced for the day of the Dizzee Rascal Session, with performances due to start at 3pm.

Also on the bill for the 2014 Eden Sessions with ASUS Transformer Book are Skrillex (June 25) and Elbow (July 14 and 15). The 2014 headliners have all now been announced.

BackBeat SoundSystem are an acclaimed 8-piece reggae band from St. Austell, just a few miles down the road from the Eden Project.

They are known for their sunny, up-tempo groove and, having built up a huge following around Cornwall, are now a fixture at venues and festivals around the UK, sharing bills with the likes of Cypress Hill, Plan B and Tinie Tempah.

BackBeat are known for their energetic live shows and recently won the coveted “best band” gong at the inaugural What’s On Cornwall Awards.

Kwabs, whose real name is Kwabena Adjepong, was born and raised in Bermondsey in south London and studied at the Royal Academy of Music.

He released his second EP Pray for Love in May this year, whose title track was produced by former Eden Sessions headliner Ben Drew, aka Plan B. Pray for Love followed his debut EP Wrong or Right, released in February.

Rita Broe, Eden’s marketing director, said: “BackBeat are one of the best bands in Cornwall and their groove-laden, upbeat reggae sound will be the perfect appetiser for great sets by Katy B and Dizzee Rascal.

“Kwabs is an exciting young talent with an amazing voice who is set wow the sell-out crowd at Eden with his soulful set.”

The Eden Sessions enter their thirteenth year in 2014 following an acclaimed series of gigs in 2013 headlined by Jessie J, Sigur Ros, The xx, Kaiser Chiefs and Eddie Izzard.

Last year also saw the launch of Eden Sessions TV (www.youtube.com/edensessionstv), a dedicated free-to-view online channel featuring regularly-updated videos of some of the gigs’ finest shows. The channel also live-streamed the second night of Jessie J’s sold-out double-header and has already had 1.4 million views since its launch.

Tickets are available for all Eden Sessions, with the exception of Ellie Goulding (July 8) and the first Elbow date (July 14), which are both sold out.
