Eden unleashes a Tyrannosaurus rex at the Royal Cornwall Show
Today (Thursday, June 5) the Eden Project gave visitors to the Royal Cornwall Show the chance to come face to face with an amazing life-size T.rex, one of the stars of the show at Eden this summer.
The prehistoric beast will be stalking the Biomes from July 21 for Eden’s Dinosaurs Unleashed event.
Dinosaurs Unleashed at Eden will turn visitors into true explorers as they track down and discover amazing things about the giant beasts that used to rule the planet.
In The Crater of the Tyrant King, they will be able to step boldly into an ancient, exotic landscape of raw earth, rocks, roots, ferns, dripping mosses and giant redwood trees, habitat of the frog, snake and giant centipede.
They will have an amazing close encounter with the most feared predator of all, a Tyrannosaurus rex, as it devours its Triceratops prey. This incredibly detailed immersive experience promises to be a sensory feast that visitors will never forget.
Beyond the crater, they will have the chance to hone their explorer skills by searching for an escaped dinosaur. If they are brave enough they will come within touching distance of the lost monster.
The Dig Pit will provide adventure of a different kind as families burrow down to discover a fossilised Stegosaurus skeleton and see how palaeontologists first found and pieced together the giants of the past.
First base for all explorers will be Basecamp where they will learn what they need to complete their quest around the Eden site.
At the Explorer Field Stations they will find out all about explorers from the past and maybe even the present and find out why they made history and what we can learn from them.
In the Dinosaur Exhibition in the Core they will explore why dinosaurs are endlessly fascinating, why scientists think they were so big and delve into some of the theories of how they were wiped out 65 million years ago.
Here, too, they will be able to go nose-to-nose with history by viewing an amazing collection of dinosaur fossils including real dinosaur eggs, a fossilised brain, a whole skeleton and a real T.rex tooth.
Visitors to the Eden stand at the Royal Cornwall Show (stand 74) will not only get a sneak peak of Dinosaurs Unleashed, but they will also be able to get a flavour of June’s Green Fingers Festival as Eden’s horticultural team will be giving out expert gardening tips throughout the show.
They will also have the opportunity to purchase Locals’ Summer Passes to Eden at a special Royal Cornwall discount rate of £5 as well as tickets to the Eden Sessions.
