Monks from the Tashi Lhunpo Monastery in central Tibet visited the Eden Project today (Thursday September 18) to make a sand mandala – or spiritual symbol for the universe - in the project’s Mediterranean Biome.

The Tashi Lhunpo Monastery is one of the most important Tibetan monasteries and is the traditional seat of the Panchen Lama, the highest ranking Lama after the Dalai Lama in the Gelugpa lineage of Tibetan Buddhism.

The monks are currently on a UK tour which will see them perform in various locations around the country until the end of October.
