Big Lunch Extras, a programme from the Eden Project in Cornwall, is offering people from all over the UK the chance to inspire change in their communities with a series of special camps and workshops.

The three year programme, funded by the Big Lottery with additional support from Halifax, has been created to motivate individuals across the UK and give them the confidence and tools to bring about positive change within their communities.

The programme follows on from the success of The Big Lunch, an Eden project funded by the Big Lottery which has seen millions of people across the UK get together with their neighbours and share lunch since 2009.

The Big Lunch Extras team are holding a selection of taster days around the UK, where people will be able to get involved with a mixture of practical activities and facilitated sessions to help people kick-start change in their communities, as well as the chance to network with other like-minded people. The taster days will be taking place in:

Wolverhampton – November 1 and 2, 10am until 9.30 Sat and 10-1pm at The Hub, Griffiths Drive.

Ealing - November 8, 10am until 6:30pm at Hanwell Community Centre, Westcott Crescent, Hanwell.

Totnes – November 22, 10am until 4pm at The Mansion, Fore Street.

In addition, people are being encouraged to register for a place on one of the remaining Big Lunch Extras Camps, which are three day gatherings at the Eden Project that are fully funded and include travel to and from Cornwall and accommodation.

The camps are tailored to the needs of participants and include practical activities, expert advice and an opportunity to meet like-minded people from across the UK. The camps will take place at the Eden Project on November 28 – December 1, February 27 – March 2 and April 17 – 20.

Lindsey Brummitt, Big Lunch Extras Programme Manager, said: “For anyone interested in bringing about positive change in their communities, Big Lunch Extras is the perfect programme for them. We have seen lots of the programme participants make real strides forward with their ideas after joining us.
“The regional workshops provide a great opportunity to get a taste of the programme with practical tips on how to get started, while our Camps give you all the tools you need to make real change happen in your neighbourhood and inspire others too.”
