Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow in Eden’s Rainforest Biome
Visitors to the Eden Project this Christmas will have the unique opportunity to see festive snowfall deep inside the rainforest.
The magical experience is part of Enchanted Rainforest, a journey through Christmas memories which has been created in collaboration with the acclaimed WildWorks theatre company.
The story is that a boat carrying Christmas memories has run aground in the Rainforest Biome and scattered its cargo and crew throughout the jungle. Visitors can explore the Biome to find the lost memories, which include nativity plays, family fun and, of course, snow.
Emma Hogg, Eden Live Programme Producer, said: “This year is the most magical Christmas at Eden yet. The Enchanted Rainforest is a nostalgic treat and its centrepiece of snow in the tropics is a breath-taking sight.”
The Enchanted Rainforest is open from 4pm on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays until December 14 and then every day from December 15 to December 31 (not including Christmas Eve, Christmas Day or Boxing Day). Entry is included in the Eden admission price.
Cornish choirs, ice-skating, reindeer, fabulous festive food and seasonal craft workshops ensure that Eden helps put the magic into Christmas with something for every member of the family.
Father Christmas and his elves have also returned to Eden with a new enchanting story, as part of a magical Christmas season.
Father Christmas is in residence in his grotto by the stage at Eden on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays until December 14 and then every day from December 15 to Christmas Eve.
Each day has a selection of Father Christmas time slots available and pre-booking is recommended. For adults the cost is £3 and children £5 (on top of Eden admission).
In additional to this, Eden’s ice rink - 10 years old this year – is set in a lovely snowy mountain range.
Skaters can choose from various sessions where there’s something to suit everyone – toddlers, young children, absolute beginners and novices. Those who like to watch from the side-lines can sit down and enjoy a hot chocolate or some crepes at the new rink cafe.
General skating sessions cost £6 per person on top of Eden Project admission. There are also half-price sessions on selected days and a Skater Pass Discount Card, which costs £35 and enables people to get half-price skating throughout the season.
Eden’s Locals’ Passes are also available to people who live in Cornwall or Devon, offering unlimited entry to Eden until October 31, 2015 for just £12 for adults, £9.50 for over-60s and students, £7 for children aged five to 16 and £35 for a family of two adults and two children for those who choose to pay by Direct Debit.
Passes can be bought online at www.edenproject.com/locals-pass or on arrival to Eden (proof of residence in Cornwall or Devon and photo ID required). Passes can be bought until March 8, 2015.
