A herd of Renault reindeers are helping Father Christmas and his elves bring seasonal cheer to the Eden Project.

The six, all-electric Twizy cars have been adorned in festive livery including antlers, reindeer fur livery, fluffy brown noses and, of course, one red nose!

Part of a fleet of innovative Renault EVs based at Eden, the Twizys are a familiar sight at the world-famous attraction which has a longstanding relationship with Europe’s leading electric vehicle manufacturer.

Staff use the vehicles across their Cornwall-based site and now the compact, fun Twizys are playing a festive role parked in their “pen” outside Eden’s ice rink. The Twizys are situated close to the dome tent where Father Christmas and his elves have set up camp to meet visitors and prepare for the big day.

The Twizys are part of a magical Christmas at Eden which also includes the spectacular Festival of Light and Sound laser show and ice skating on the popular ice rink.

Rita Broe, Eden’s Marketing Director, said: “We love our electric reindeer and our visitors are delighted by them. Each Twizy is assigned to one of our elves and their number plates bear those names. It all adds to a fantastic festive programme at Eden.”

Ben Fletcher, Renault Z.E. Manager, Groupe Renault UK, said: “We are very proud both of our partnership with Eden and our EV range, so it’s great to see the reaction to our fun and unforgettable Twizy Reindeer as they prove that EVs are suitable for anyone’s daily needs – even Father Christmas!”

Eden has a total of 18 Renault EVs and they are part of the educational charity’s mission to communicate the benefits of living more sustainably. Eden uses the Renault ZOE and Kangoo Van Z.E. as well as the Twizy.

Renault has been at the forefront of electric vehicle (EV) technology for several years and has the ambition to provide everyone with access to affordable, sustainable motoring.

Renault’s eye-catching two-seater Twizy is powered by a 13kW (17hp) motor with a limited top speed of around 50 mph. The stylish, zero-emission-in-use, two-seater compact quadricycle and a full charge gives a range of 56 miles (ECE-15 UTAC), making electric motoring practical, economical and more sustainable. The Twizy is priced from just £6,995.

The Renault ZOE is an all-electric, five-door family hatchback available in three trim levels that comes with a very high level of standard specification, despite its competitive price-tag, which starts from £13,995 after the Government Plug-in Car Grant.  Standard specification includes items such as climate control and sat-nav. It was recently announced that the ZOE is now available with a 250 mile (NEDC) range – one of the longest available on the market.

In the UK, the ZOE has won numerous awards including What Car?’s ‘Best Electric Car Under £20,000’ for three consecutive years and was most recently voted second in the 2016 Auto Express Driver Power vehicle ownership survey out of 183 cars – Renault’s best ever ranking in the survey for one of its vehicles.

The Renault Kangoo Van Z.E. is the world’s first 100%-electric van produced directly by a mass-market vehicle manufacturer. The official range of 105 miles means that the vast majority of van users’ daily driving can be done on one charge. The Kangoo Van Z.E. starts from £17,298 including the Government’s Plug-in Van Grant.

Renault was the best-selling electric vehicle and electric LCV manufacturer in Europe in 2015. Continuing that trend in the UK, sales of ZOE, Twizy and Kangoo Z.E. rose by 16 per cent in the first nine months of 2016 with 1,712 EVs sold.
