Science weekends at Eden are set to wow visitors!
Explosive experiments, compelling tales and journeys through space and time are some of the attractions at the Eden Project’s WOW! Science Weekends in January.
Each themed weekend will be quirky, fun and packed full of exciting scientific discoveries for all the family.
The Far-out Forces weekend (January 14-15) will allow budding scientists to get hands-on with awesome activities and a measure of mayhem from Ministry of Science.
This is no ordinary science show - it comes with a bang and a whoosh! The Ministry of Science believes there’s a scientist, engineer or inventor in everyone and this show is set to inspire the next generation.
The Amazing Space weekend (January 21-22) explores the secrets of the universe, with Universarama from the hugely-popular Squashbox Theatre.
Using silly puppets, ridiculous props, and ludicrous wigs, Professor Johnson will take wannabe astronauts on a journey through the solar system to the edges of space and time.
The Mighty Microbes weekend (January 28-29) will welcome Horrible Science’s Nick Arnold to Eden to uncover the truth behind microscopic monsters. Nick will present his special Super-Funny Microbes Show, based on the bestselling books - get ready for Horrible Fun, scary stories, queasy quizzes and evil experiments.
Mike Maunder, Director of Life Sciences, said: “The WOW Science Weekends are great Eden events, a lively combination of theatre and science that can occasionally be a little naughty.
“WOW weekends allow our children to interact with some of the UK's best science communicators and experience the thrill of science. We send the kids home not only happy but with a sense that science is deeply exciting and can be an important part of their futures.”
These weekends are part of ‘Invisible Worlds’, a new permanent exhibition opening at Eden in spring 2018. All activities are included with the normal Eden admission. These weekends are fun for all ages, but recommended for ages seven and above.
In addition to this there will be community weekends throughout January that will give free entry for specific groups of people. For more details, check the website http://www.edenproject.com/
