New wave icons Blondie are the latest act to be confirmed for this summer’s Eden Sessions and will play a show against the backdrop of the famous Biomes on Friday June 23.

The announcement coincides with the release of their eleventh studio album Pollinator, which comes out today (Friday May 5).

The album features tracks written by Johnny Marr, Charli XCX, Sia and Nick Valensi of The Strokes as well as material written by founder members Debbie Harry and Chris Stein.

Blondie are known for iconic songs such as Heart of Glass, Atomic, The Tide is High and Maria and have sold more than 40 million albums.

They are one of only two American acts to have singles at the top of the UK charts in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, the other being Michael Jackson. From the release of 1978’s Plastic Letters to 1999’s No Exit, Blondie had six consecutive top-ten albums in the UK.

They have picked up a slew of top awards, including last year’s Q Inspiration Award and the NME Godlike Genius Award in 2014. In 2006, Blondie were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Blondie last played in Cornwall in 1999 at the Cornwall Coliseum in St. Austell. Their Eden Session is one of only two shows they will play in the UK this summer.

Rita Broe, Eden’s marketing director, said: “Blondie are one of the most enduring and important rock bands of the past 40 years and we’re privileged for them to be playing such an exclusive show so soon after the release of their new album.

“This announcement is a great addition to what is sure to be a vintage year for the Eden Sessions, with cutting-edge contemporary acts like Foals and Royal Blood rubbing shoulders with classic artists like Van Morrison, ensuring the line-up has something for all tastes.”

Also on the bill at the Eden Sessions in 2017 is Bastille (June 15), Madness (June 16 – SOLD OUT), Royal Blood (June 22), Van Morrison (July 1), Bryan Adams (July 6 – SOLD OUT) and Foals (July 11).

The Eden Sessions enter their sixteenth year in 2017. Last year saw Lionel Richie, Tom Jones, PJ Harvey, Manic Street Preachers and Jess Glynne carry on the great tradition of bringing top UK and international acts to Eden.

The Eden Sessions has its own free-to-view online TV channel ( featuring regularly-updated videos of some of the gigs' finest shows.
