The Eden Project will launch its biggest-ever summer season Journey Into Space at the Royal Cornwall Show next week.

Amazing interplanetary adventures will be happening all over Eden during the summer holidays including the Solar System Safari taking visitors on a spectacular journey through the planets.

Journey Into Space, starting July 27, will also give visitors the chance to train as an astronaut, have an encounter with an alien and see a prototype of NASA’s next Mars rover.

The annual Royal Cornwall Show from June 8 to 10 will provide a taster of the excitement to come at Eden.

Show visitors can see some of the stars of the event including a replica space capsule, a Renault Twizy Moon exploration vehicle and some extra-terrestrial plants set in a lunar landscape.

There will be an astronaut touring the showground, a remote-controlled moon buggy game and some astronaut challenges to try.

Marion Harrison, Eden Live Project Lead, said: “The Royal Cornwall Show will be the first chance for visitors to get a flavour of what we have in store for our amazing Journey into Space programme.

“It’s going to be an interstellar experience to whet everyone’s appetite for the main event taking place at Eden throughout the summer.”

Journey Into Space is the first time Eden is bringing extra-terrestrial-themed activities to its summer visitors.

The programme’s centrepiece is the Solar System Safari where visitors can experience a unique environment based on the conditions on each planet.

This will include a trek through the icy wasteland of Uranus and a chance to see Jupiter rising and a fly-by of Earth.

There will also be a mysterious crash-site to explore with a team of scientists and a possible encounter with an alien.

Younger visitors can learn what it takes to become an astronaut, including practising their spacewalk technique in a giant inflatable dome.

The Eden Journey Into Space stand will be open throughout the Royal Cornwall Show from June 8 to 10.

Annual Locals’ Passes and Eden Sessions tickets will be on sale at the stand.

The Renault Twizy Moon exploration vehicle is a display model that is not available to buy.
