A heart-warming image of a mother and child on the cloud bridge in the Eden Project’s Rainforest Biome is the top shot in Eden’s fifth annual photo competition.

The winning photo was taken by Chris Wasey from St Austell in Cornwall and shows his wife Georgina and three-year-old son Charlie on one of family’s regular days out at the project.

The image was chosen by a panel of judges as the best of thousands of entries.

Chris wins £500 worth of Jack Wolfskin clothing and equipment - including tents, sleeping bags and bags - available from the Jack Wolfskin online shop.

Among the judges was Gretchen Viehmann, Head of Press and Editorial Photography at Falmouth University, who said: “It was hard to choose from such a lovely set of images.

“The winning picture expresses the sense of joy and wonder that the Eden Project engenders. It conveys beautifully the pleasure of being in the moment.”

Chris said: "I'm ecstatic to have won the competition. We go to the Eden Project at least once a week as a family and usually I just take pictures on my phone. But everything was perfect on that particular trip; the light was lovely, I had my camera with me, and Charlie was having so much fun - he always loves feeling free and charging across the bridge.

"I wasn't going to enter the competition, even though I loved the picture - it’s framed and in our living room. But my wife encouraged me. Now I’m so pleased she did.”

Of his prize, Chris said: “Jack Wolfskin is an amazing brand and it’s so exciting to have won. We can now kit ourselves out and go on our first family camping trip. We can’t wait.”

Entries to the competition were posted with the hashtag #edenphotocomp on either Twitter or Instagram. The Eden Project can be found at @edenproject on Twitter and at @edenprojectcornwall on Instagram.
