Kaleidoscope of colour heralds Christmas at Eden 2018 - Brand new after-dark experience opens Nov 24
Christmas at the Eden Project in Cornwall promises to be a spectacular all-new experience in an ever-changing landscape of shadows and light.
From Saturday November 24, visitors will be met with pockets of glowing colour, a myriad of dancing lights as they make their way down towards the world-famous Biomes.
Along the way they will discover playful light installations and effects and watch a moving kaleidoscope of colour projected across the lush slopes of the outdoor gardens, all to a backdrop of live festive music.
In the Rainforest Biome they will be able to explore different tropical zones of colour and light, based on real-time dynamic weather patterns in rainforests around the world.
The twinkling Malaysian Hut will feature shimmering jars with a magical secret and festive stories from the past, present and future.
Live music and performance will set the tempo in the Mediterranean Biome. Visitors can wander through a glowing laser forest and explore an Antarctic garden by night, glittering with frost and ice.
A major highlight will be an evocative light and sound experience in the Core education centre, with the recently installed Infinity Blue sculpture as the centrepiece.
Once again Father Christmas and his elves will be setting up camp at Eden, from November 24 right up until Christmas Eve.
Families can enjoy a special moment with the man in red, hear his stories by the roaring fire and meet his helpers as they get ready for their big night of the year.
Inside the cosy tent visitors will get the chance to explore behind the scenes, see the elves’ bunkbeds, pigeonholes full of children’s letters and all the stockings laid out in time for Christmas.
Because of very high demand, visits to Father Christmas need to be booked beforehand through www.edenproject.com.
Eden’s Marketing Director Rita Broe said: “We’re sure visitors will love our all-new experience this year as we celebrate the season of goodwill in true Eden fashion.
“For the first time, we will have a site-wide immersive sound and light experience, which all can enjoy from the moment they emerge from the Visitor Centre and look across the site, right through the gardens and Biomes.
“This will be Eden as never seen before, with surprises and fun all along the way. It promises to be a magical experience, a must in the Christmas calendar.”
Adding to the magic is Eden’s celebrated ice rink, now back for the 15th year running and open right through until February 24.
There are sessions for everyone, including toddlers’ ice play without skates and chilly juniors fun sessions for six to 12 year olds, complete with races and games.
During the day visitors can get festive with our craft workshops.
