Misty magic at Eden as Father Christmas and elves head for the clouds
Father Christmas got ready for his big night travelling the skies with a journey over the Eden Project’s spectacular Cloud Bridge.
The man in red and his mischievous elves took a wander through the world’s biggest rainforest in captivity after setting up camp in Eden’s Arena where they are entertaining everyone with their all-new seasonal show.
During the performance visitors can hear a magical tale full of Christmas cheer told around a roaring fire.
Children can help the merry team of elves with writing cards, wrapping presents and other final preparations for the big day.
There is also festive music and a magical wintry light projection.
The Father Christmas shows are fully booked from December 21 but there is still availability this Friday, December 14, and next Monday to Thursday, December 17 to 20.
They take place alongside the new Shadows and Light after-dark extravaganza featuring mesmerising displays of colour, light and music across the whole site.
Designed by internationally renowned light and sound installation artists, the immersive event sees the Rainforest and Mediterranean Biomes, outdoor gardens and Core building transformed into ever-changing landscapes of light, shadows, music and soundscapes.
Highlights include Halo – dancing columns of light and colour in the Arena – and ‘Echoes The Weather-Makers, filling the Rainforest Biome with mist, haze and a choral soundscape. There is also the beautiful Twelve Part Winter illuminating the Infinity Blue sculpture in the Core education centre with light and music.
There is also ice-skating, festive craft activities and seasonal storytelling.
Polly Randle, Senior Eden Live Programme Lead, said: “Our all-new Father Christmas show is one of our most beautiful ever and everyone is being enchanted by Father Christmas and his team of cheeky elves.
“It’s the perfect complement to our spectacular Shadows and Light experience transforming the whole of Eden in a way you’ve never seen before – it’s a must-see in the Christmas calendar.”
Christmas at Eden has a range of activities available on different days. Shadows and Light is included in the price of admission but bookings are required to see Father Christmas and for ice-skating, with extra charges applying.
Eden works with the Sensory Trust to offer relaxed Father Christmas sessions for children with autistic spectrum condition, sensory and communications needs or learning disabilities.
