Bee Bricks

Our bee bricks have been designed to provide a nesting site to support the declining solitary bee population.

The bricks have been designed to be an integral part of building, so if you’re building a wall in your garden then pop some of these bricks in and provide a safe haven for bees. Can also be used in the construction of homes and office buildings.

Design Features:

  • Made of Cornish granite aggregate's
  • Designed and made in Cornwall
  • Each brick provides 18 cavities for solitary bees
  • Available in three sizes

Providing habitats for the next generation of pollinating bee species is vitally important. These bee bricks are a starting point.

Adapting and rethinking how we use existing building components that cater for a variety of species makes implementing these goals viable at a scale necessary to see real change… one brick at a time.

How does it work?

Each Bee brick provides 18 cavities for solitary bees to lay their eggs. Each cavity is moulded part way into the brick ensuring bees cannot enter the building.

Bees lay their eggs inside the holes and seal the entrance with mud or chewed up vegetation. The off spring emerge the following spring and begin the cycle again.

The Eden Project is an educational charity and social enterprise, changing lives and making a difference where we can. When you buy something from our shop, you're supporting our work, as all profits go to our educational programmes.

We've worked with groups of homeless people and former offenders to create amazing gardens at the Chelsea Flower Show. Not only have they have won medals but have boosted individuals' self-confidence and given them new skills.
