Giant Protea

The king protea is a fabulous addition to any exotic garden.

Also known as the giant protea, the bloom is the national flower of South Africa from where it originates. The flowers are large and bright crimson and pink in colour, and they make fabulous cut flowers.

In the UK the giant protea seeds and plants are best grown in a conservatory as they are not hardy plants. The flowers are similar to an artichoke in shape and really do make any windowsill or conservatory garden truly unique. We have some proteas growing down in the Mediterranean biome.

In their native habitat, the protea flowers provide nectar for birds as well as bees and other flying insects.

Latin: Protea cynaroides

Average 3 seeds per packet.

Full growing instructions included in the packet.
