Purple Cootamundra Wattle

Acacia baileyana 'Purpurea'

This purple cootamundra wattle is a beautiful acacia.

It is a truly distinctive small evergreen tree with distinctive bluish fern foliage flushed with purple.

The yellow pom pom like flowers create an added splash of colour in late winter, after the red young shoots have appeared. 

Planted against a white wall will show the foliage to full effect, however it is a tender plant, so the wattle id best suited to growing in a greenhouse or conservatory.

Requires a sheltered site out of the wind in the milder areas, but it is really a conservatory plant in northern climes as it will not withstand severe winters. Low maintenance once established.
