The acclaimed artist will be hosting a series of illustration workshops on Saturday and Sunday, August 27 and 28.

The exclusive event is a major highlight of a summer packed full of mischief and mayhem courtesy of Dennis, Gnasher, Minnie and other famous Beanotown friends who feature in Britain’s best-loved comic.

With a career spanning more than 42 years, Nigel’s work is unmistakable. He has drawn Dennis, Gnasher and many other Beano characters for the weekly comic – and summer and winter annuals and specials.  He also drew the Royal Mail’s 2021 Beano stamps.

The prolific illustrator is also known for drawing other classic comics, including The Dandy, Thunderbirds, Stingray and Grange Hill.

Nigel said: “Amidst the exotic, fascinating flora of the Eden Project I shall be helping this summer's Beano mania reach both new and old friends. Come and see how I draw for Beano and maybe learn a few tricks of the trade yourself!"Kate Francis, Eden’s Live Programme Producer, said: “We are over the moon to be welcoming Nigel to Eden this August bank holiday weekend – it really is the cherry on top of what has been a brilliant summer of Beano antics. Our Tipis have hosted some fantastic illustration workshops already and will also be welcoming South West-based illustrator Jack Teagle on August 24 and 31.”

This summer, the site of the famous Biomes has been abuzz with Beano mania, with visitors invited to embark on the mission of saving the planet from the dreaded CO₂-Zilla.

From solving puzzles to escape CO₂-Zilla’s lair, creating a wall of climate placards and showing off their best Dennis moves on the scooter and skate mini half-pipes to upcycling old clothes and following a trail to fight climate change with the help of a bespoke Eden Beano comic – there’s something to keep all the family entertained.

Nigel’s illustration workshops will take place at 11:00, 13:00, 14:00 and 15:00 on Saturday August 27 and Sunday August 28.

Pre-booking a place for the workshops is essential, at no extra cost – this can be done at the entrance to the Tipis on site. For more information and to pre-book your ticket, visit www.edenproject.com.

Eden’s summer programme runs until September 4.
