Sustainability Report 2010-11

That was the year that:

  • Eden’s visitor and catering facilities were badly flooded, and we came up with the idea for the Eden Bakery.
  • We received planning permission to build one of the first deep engineered geothermal power plants in the UK generating both heat and electricity.
  • We opened the Eden Project Cafe in a green building in St Austell.
  • Our show garden at the Chelsea Flower Show, created by homeless volunteers and prisoners, won a silver medal.

Annual Review 2008-09

That was the year that:

  • We welcomed our 10 millionth visitor.
  • 30,000 people took part in our outdoor den building activities. KT Tunstall, The Verve and Bill Bailey performed at Eden.
  • We gave over 400 homeless, offenders and excluded young people a free Great Day Out at Eden.
  • Our waste programme won an 'innovation' award from CIWM.

Annual Review 2007-08

That was the year that:

  • Prime Minister Gordon Brown paid us a visit.
  • 25,000 schoolchildren from Kenya, India and the UK worked together on our Gardens for Life programme.
  • Our Post-Mining Alliance convened a roundtable in Toronto on how to regenerate mining regions.
  • We launched the first ever green car show, which 64,000 people visited.

Annual Review 2006-07

That was the year that:

  • The Queen opened our new education centre, the Core.
  • The giant WEEE Man sculpture was installed at Eden.
  • 122 fantastic volunteers helped us do our work.
  • We published another 11 books under the Eden Project Books brand.
  • We got 43% of our water needs from harvested grey water onsite.
