Eden Project Biomes

Celebrating 25 years of the Eden Project

Twenty-five years ago, we dared to dream big – transforming a sterile clay pit in Cornwall with no soil into a jaw-dropping global garden. 2026 marks a quarter of a century since the Eden Project opened, becoming one of the world’s greatest examples of regeneration, positive impact and a living demonstration of what humans can do when we choose to heal rather than abandon.

Visit us this year to see how much we've grown, and celebrate the impact we've made as a charity as we look forward to the next 25 years.

You're invited to our birthday!

We first opened our doors in 2001, and within the first hour 3,500 people crossed our threshold! A quarter of a century – and 25 million visitors – later, we're turning 25 on Tuesday 17 March 2026, and you're invited.

To celebrate this momentous milestone, we’ll be opening at 9am with a special welcome from some of the team members who helped bring Eden to life, including our co-founder Sir Tim Smit. From 9.45am, enjoy a very special performance from local community choirs in the Mediterranean Biome followed by a showstopping cake-cutting moment.

Then stay for the day, explore our extraordinary Biomes, enjoy over 100,000 spring bulbs bursting into bloom, dine in our Med Terrace restaurant and see how we've grown.

Unearth wonder in our brand new exhibition, opening on the 17 March, which tells the miraculous story of how we managed to grow a tropical rainforest in a flooded Cornish crater that had no soil.

What's your Eden story?

We’d love to hear about the Eden moments that have stayed with you. Perhaps you were here on our very first day, tied the knot beneath our Rainforest canopy, or danced under the stars at your very first gig. Maybe you visited on a school trip years ago – and now bring your own children to explore. However Eden has been part of your life, your story is part of ours. Share your photos with us and let’s celebrate those memories together.
