How your money supports us
Did you know that we’re an educational charity as well as a visitor attraction? Whilst we remain temporarily closed, your support has never been so important – both for our beautiful gardens and our transformational projects which make a real difference to people's lives and to our planet.

How we're making a difference
Inspiring rainforest conservation
Our Rainforest Canopy Walkway brings to life the importance of rainforests in influencing the world's climate. Adults and children alike have been thrilled to lose themselves in the mists of the Cloud Bridge and, at the same time, take home the message of why we need to preserve rainforests worldwide.
Bringing communities together
Every year we help millions of people feel the magic of connection and community by getting together for a neighbourhood Big Lunch. Four million new friendships were made in 2019 thanks to the Big Lunch, and a whopping 98% felt that more communities should hold a Big Lunch where they live.
Educating future generations
We've welcomed over 50,000 school children through our doors to enjoy learning experiences by taking part in workshops and play sessions in our 'living classroom'. Our skilled team is helping teachers deliver the national curriculum in an inventive way in one of the most educationally rich venues around.
Conserving Britain's wildlife
We’ve helped Natural England conserve some of Cornwall’s precious wildlife by propagating rare plants, such as junipers to re-establish on the Lizard, and 10,000 Devil’s-bit scabious to connect habitats for the endangered marsh fritillary butterfly. Our horticultural skills and facilities have been essential for these projects.
Creating autism-friendly programmes
We've enabled over 1,000 children with autism spectrum condition, sensory and communication needs or learning disabilities to access our family programmes, by creating additional special relaxed sessions just for them and their carers. It means our seasonal events are now fully accessible.
Tackling isolation amongst the elderly
We've brought together 20 otherwise housebound senior citizens at our very popular (and oversubscribed) weekly lunch club, giving them a chance to make new friends and socialise, and enjoy a hearty meal together. It’s part of our ‘social prescribing’ programme, designed to give new life opportunities to people with a range of conditions.
How you can help us
Achievements such as those listed above are made possible by the support of many:
- our extraordinarily committed and talented staff and volunteers;
- the Big Lottery and a wide range of other charitable trusts and foundations, who help us to develop new and exciting ways to fulfil our mission;
- and our Members and visitors on whom our operating income depends.
However, we are ambitious and want to do much more.
Many of the projects we’re involved in are externally funded for just a limited time period, or are oversubscribed and we do not have the funds to put more on to meet demand.
By supporting Eden today – by joining as a Member, or making a donation – you’ll help us to preserve our remarkable infrastructure and educational mission for future generations, and continue to deliver transformational projects which can help change peoples’ lives for the better.
