The Eden Project announced today (February 12, 2020) that My Chemical Romance will play the Eden Sessions on June 16, 2020.

In what is seen as a massive coup for the venue, the acclaimed USA rockers – whose most famous album is The Black Parade - will play Eden before three huge shows at Stadium MK, Milton Keynes.

My Chemical Romance were drawn to play at the Cornwall home of the world-renowned environmental and educational charity due to Eden’s green credentials and ground-breaking programmes aimed at inspiring and educating people about humanity’s reliance on the natural world.

Rita Broe, Managing Director of Eden Sessions Ltd, said:  “It is incredibly exciting to be able to announce a band of this stature.   My Chemical Romance playing our stage this summer promises to be a night no-one lucky enough to be here will ever forget.”

Formed in Newark, New Jersey, My Chemical Romance made their debut in 2002 with the independently released album I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love. The band signed to Reprise Records the following year and made their major label debut with 2004's Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge. The album contained the Platinum hit I'm Not Okay (I Promise), the Gold-certified Helena, and The Ghost of You.

Rolling Stone hailed the three-times  Platinum The Black Parade as one of the top albums of 2006. Lead single Welcome to the Black Parade topped both Billboard's Alternative Songs tally and the UK Official Singles chart. The band toured extensively behind the album - appearing as characters from The Black Parade - and released the live album The Black Parade is Dead! in 2008.

Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys was released in 2010 and topped Billboard's Alternative Albums and Top Rock Albums charts. It was followed by a series of singles later released as Conventional Weapons in 2013.

Tickets for the My Chemical Romance concert cost £65 plus £6.50 booking fee. Tickets go on sale to Inside Track passholders today, Wednesday February 12, at 12pm.

Tickets go on general sale on Wednesday February 19 at 5pm via the website .

My Chemical Romance is the fifth announcement so far for the Eden Sessions 2020.  Also appearing this year are Lionel Richie on June 17 (all tickets sold out), Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds on June 23, The Script on July 15 (standard tickets sold out), and Diana Ross on July 21.

More Eden Sessions will be announced soon. The Eden Sessions at the Eden Project in Cornwall are in their 19th year in 2020. Last year’s epic line-up saw Stereophonics, Nile Rodgers & Chic, Liam Gallagher, The Chemical Brothers and Kylie Minogue (two nights) play the Eden stage. Also, to mark the 100th Session, Nile Rodgers and Doves led a galaxy of stars at a special anniversary concert.

In September (2019) The Eden Project and global live events company AEG Presents announced a new partnership, Eden Sessions Ltd, to run the Eden Sessions.
