2 Year Apprenticeship Contracts 
Apprentice pay rate for all vacancies is £3.90 during the first year
30 days annual leave per year (including bank holidays) plus an additional day off on your birthday!

Mechanical Technician Apprenticeship - View Job Description

 The job descriptions above will give you further information on the individual Apprenticeships offered. In order to be successful you will need to be motivated and committed to completing the 2 years. We don’t need you to have lots of previous qualifications or experience, we are looking for the right attitude and a willingness to learn and get stuck in! Our apprenticeships are open to anyone aged 16 and over. There is no upper age limit. However you will not be elligible if you hold a qualification in the same subject area as the apprenticeship that is of the same level or higher.

If you do not have your own transport available you should consider how you will travel to work, as Eden is in a rural location and public transport is not always available. A travel bursary is available for those who live further than 3 miles away from Eden.

We know at Eden that first impressions count and our Admissions team are our first port of call for visitors.

Chef de Partie

Fixed term contracts with potential for extension beyond summer. Immediate start dates
£9.33 per hour 

We are looking for chefs to join our experienced and passionate team.

If you have a passion for food, a commitment to the development of staff and have experience in a role of a similar level then this is the job for you!

You will be experienced at this level, creativity is a must; as is the ability to work individually, be organised and lead by example. Duties will include preparation, cooking and presentation of all dishes as well as overseeing, coaching and training junior staff to deliver at the same level.

Hours worked will vary but shifts will predominantly be during the day, with additional hours required for our events held on site and Eden Sessions concerts.

Events and Hospitality Supervisor

£9per hour

Full time, fixed term contract until 31/12/2019

The right candidate will have a natural gift for hospitality and be able to motivate, engage effectively and lead a team through their passion, their example and their commitment.

Outstanding customer service is essential in this role as you will be the main point of contact throughout the event. You will be expected to create detailed working documents that the team can work from to ensure the events are set up as per the client’s instructions. All our events venues are shared with our day visitors or other teams so ensuring that the venues are ready to be used the next day is crucial. You will be challenged with maximising revenue and profit, through effective staffing and up selling at events. This role is not 9-5 and will be based around 10% in the office and 90% delivering events 

The role will involve regular early morning, evening and weekend working throughout the contract duration and does require full flexibility from Monday to Sunday 

Previous experience in a supervisory or management role in the hospitality/events sector is essential. The ability to work late nights and weekends is required.

Horticulturist (Multiple Positions)

Fixed Term Contract over summer (up to 10 weeks) 

Hours various to be discussed and agreed, between 20 and 40 per week
Pay – National Minimum Wage (Age Related)

An opportunity has arisen for a number of seasonal horticulturalists to join our team at the Eden Project and at Watering Lane Nursery (Pentewan) to assist our teams through our busy summer period. You will work alongside other horticulturalists assisting in maintaining the plant displays and exhibits.

Essential to the role is the ability to embrace a team environment, and confidence interacting with numerous colleagues and public. We are looking for an individual with the ability and passion to support and guide horticultural students and /or volunteers. A friendly, positive outlook is essential.

Our ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, have good all round horticultural experience and an eye for detail. Some knowledge of plants would be advantageous but is not essential.

Narrator (Level 2)

32 hour and 35 hour annualised contracts available, permanent positions

With a million visitors to the Eden Project each year, a Narrator will never hold two conversations which are the same; a vibrant and diverse position like no other. 

This team is essential to the daily running of the Eden Project and works within a range of positions across site in differing climates. Whether it is 100ft up in the Rainforest biome or welcoming visitors on their arrival, our Narrators ensure all visitors have the best experience possible and no one leaves Eden without “getting it”.

The Narrator team works together, holding conversations with all who enter through our doors whilst keeping health and safety at the forefront of the working day. Within the Narrator Team, you will share your knowledge with both colleagues and visitors, in all aspects of the role, learning just as much from our visitors as they learn from you.

Invisible Worlds Narrator (Level 3) 

£9 per hour

36 hours per week, fixed term contract until 31/03/2020 

If the invisible processes we rely on for fresh air, fertile soil and clean water are threatened, then so are we. Invisible Worlds is a major new exhibition on site at the Eden Project. It explores the way that the latest science and technology allows us to perceive the world beyond our senses: too small, too vast, too slow, too fast, too far away in space or time. An engaging introduction to the invisible and the interconnectedness of life and the Earth’s environments at all scales – revealing how life is shaped by, and shapes, invisible systems.

Invisible Worlds includes major art and science exhibits, temporary exhibitions, a live arts and science programme, performance and storytelling, a working lab, public workshops, a café and themed exploratory play areas.

The role of the Level 3 Narrator is to be an intelligent, interactive and passionate member of the team with great presentation skills who can adapt to the various learning styles of our visitors. You will maximise opportunities to bring the site and particularly the Invisible Worlds exhibits alive with well researched engagement through conversation, props and stories using flair, theatre or play holding a mixed audience for a minimum of 30 minutes. You will be able to learn to deliver overview guided tours; hence, you will have a thorough knowledge and a clear understanding of the Eden Project, its aims and ethos.

Site Hygienist

30 hours per week
£8.21 per hour for ages 21+, £6.44 for ages 18-20

The Eden Project is a unique visitor attraction and this is a similarly unique role. We are looking for people to deal with a variety of different tasks across the whole site both in public areas and behind the scenes. 

This will include cleaning of toilets, offices, and associated areas across all of the Eden Project with use of professional cleaning equipment. In addition, you will be required at times to assist at the recycling plant based at Eden and thus an understanding of recycling streams would be useful.

You will need to be enthusiastic and prove to have a good level of flexibility. Knowledge of Health and Safety would also be an advantage however all training for the role would be given as required. A full driving licence is essential for this role.

Zero hour – up to 40 hours a week

We are looking for Storytellers to join our storytelling team and be part of Eden Live for the summer. This year at Eden we are looking at biodiversity and evolution and will be telling the wonderful and inspirational stories of life and nature around us. We are in search of several storytellers who have the ability to share some of these stories in an interesting and creative way, as part of our summer programme, Earth Story.

The Storytelling team is a multi-faceted, high energy team. The successful candidates will need to show an understanding of the natural world and a flare for creating and performing environmental topics. They will ideally have a broad sense of creativity, a passion for stories and a good understanding of Eden. The ability to perform in front of an audience 50 - 100 people on your own is essential. Having a background in either science, education or geography would be of interest. 

A Storyteller needs to have an ‘up for anything’ attitude, be dependable. The summer is a period of high intensity work; therefore, the successful candidate’s needs high energy levels, the ability to work in hot and humid locations, strong stamina, and a good sense of humor as well as contributing to good team work.

Eden Live Activity Facilitator and Supervisor Roles 

Over the next 6 months Eden is looking for creative and outgoing individuals who have a passion to get involved with others, have fun and interact with all age groups in a fun and fast paced environment. Helping to create a memorable and exciting experience for our visitors.

Eden Live Activity Facilitator 

£5.85 per hour for ages 16-17, £6.54 for ages 18-20, £8.31 for ages 21+

This summer our programme is ‘Earth Story.’ We will be telling the extraordinary story of life on our planet past, present and future. With a series of immersive exhibitions and interactive activities we hope to engage and reinspire people to look after our planet and the vast array of creatures on it.

As an Activity Facilitator your role will involve interacting with the visitors and bringing our games, VR experience and educational content to life. 

You will need a welcoming smile, have the ability to talk to people of all ages and have a great queue busting and crowd control technique.

The programme will run for 6 weeks during the school holidays 23rd of July – 3rd of September. Working hours will be from 9.00 – 6.30 everyday with exception of hosting relaxed sessions once a week which begin at 8am.

After our summer programme we will have various events come over the next few months where we will need staff to facilitate such as Halloween and Christmas. 


Eden Live Activity Supervisor 

£9.00 per hour
40+ hours a week 

This role includes all the elements of the Activity Facilitator plus the day to day supervision of the team. Being able to communicate well to your team and others across Eden as well as scheduling correctly during the day and keeping the day to day activities running smoothly.
