Chef de Partie

We are looking for chefs to join our experienced and passionate team.

If you have a passion for food, a commitment to the development of staff and have experience in a role of a similar level then this is the job for you!

You will be experienced at this level, creativity is a must; as is the ability to work individually, be organised and lead by example. Duties will include preparation, cooking and presentation of all dishes as well as overseeing, coaching and training junior staff to deliver at the same level.

Hours worked will vary but shifts will predominantly be during the day, with additional hours required for our events held on site and Eden Sessions concerts.

Commis Chef

We are looking for chefs to join our experienced and passionate team.

Our ideal candidates will have a passion for food, enthusiasm to learn and the ability to work in a demanding, fast paced environment. Duties will include preparation, cooking and presentation of all dishes in numerous venues around site.

Being able to work in a busy environment in an organised and efficient way is key to success in this role.

Education Officer (zero hours)

£11.36 per hour
 
We are looking for an outstanding Education Officer to join Eden’s Schools Team. The post requires a flexible, dynamic and charismatic teacher who can inspire young people and their teachers about Eden and its mission.
Eden welcomes over 45,000 learners each year aged 4-19, many of whom stay at YHA Eden Project.

You will be responsible for teaching our engaging, curriculum-linked education programmes and will be an experienced deliverer of outstanding teaching and learning in and out of the classroom. You’ll need to demonstrate recent, relevant curriculum and subject knowledge and be able to skilfully manage behaviour and learning in and out of the classroom.

The work will be term-time only on an as required basis – booked in advance and with a mixture of half and full days. You will need to be available for some evening working with our YHA groups. This is an opportunity for ongoing, long- term occasional work but with a much busier period from between March and July than in the rest of the year. The majority of the work will be with primary school students rather than secondary school students. You will need to consider how this pattern of work will suit you.

This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check. The cost of this will be met by Eden.

Eden Project Education Officer – offsite

Occasional work on a zero hours contract or freelance basis

£11.36 per hour

Could you be the face of the Eden Project in primary schools in the South East and Midlands? Eden is looking for an outstanding environmental or sustainability educator, based in one of these locations, to deliver our unique sustainability education days, supported by our partners Planet First.

You’ll be a highly motivated and enthusiastic educator, with a gift for delivering memorable and enjoyable learning experiences for children in KS2. You’ll be confident communicating with teachers to organise the days effectively and problem-solving when required. You’ll be self-motivated with a commitment to Eden’s ethos in order to provide an authentic Eden learning experience to children who might never get the chance to visit the Eden Project in Cornwall.

This work amounts to around a dozen days a year, primarily in schools in the South East and Midlands. In your application, please make it clear how this occasional work can work for you. You’ll need to arrange your own travel and source and transport resources. Occasional overnight stays might be required. You’ll be paid for your travel time and all expenses reimbursed.

Dates of work will usually be arranged at the mutual convenience of you and the school. The contract includes paid training at the Eden Project and the opportunity to see the programmes running in school on 1, 2, 3 October 2018 (Beaconsfield and Hoddesdon). 

This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check. The cost of this will be met by Eden.

Kitchen Porter 

£5.75 per hour for age 16-17, £6.44 for 18-20 year olds and £7.83 for ages 21 and over 

There are multiple seasonal contracts starting ASAP, with various end dates up to the end of October.

Summer is fast approaching and now is the time when we’re looking for additional team members to support our existing back of house hospitality team. We love to wow our visitors with our stunning architecture, our amazing horticulture and our fantastic food extravaganza.  It’s all part of the entire unique visitor experience which is only available at the Eden Project!

Hours worked will vary but shifts will be during the day, with additional hours required for our events held on site. Contracts will be based on a minimum of 10 hours per week and a maximum of 30 hour per week, with additional hours available during busier periods. There will be no split shifts. 

This is a key role within the Hospitality team and main duties will include maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen, including washing pots, pans and dishes, cleaning the cookers, sweeping the floors and in general any other activity which is need to ensure the safe and efficient running of the kitchen.

Narrator Level 3 – Invisible Worlds 

£8.50 per hour

If the invisible processes we rely on for fresh air, fertile soil and clean water are threatened, then so are we. Invisible Worlds is a major new exhibition on site at the Eden Project. It explores the way that the latest science and technology allows us to perceive the world beyond our senses: too small, too vast, too slow, too fast, too far away in space or time... An engaging introduction to the invisible and the interconnectedness of life and the Earth’s environments at all scales – revealing how life is shaped by, and shapes, invisible systems.
 
We are seeking new team members with the passion and skills to bring these themes to life for our visitors – people with , first class customer 
service and communication skills, creativity and oodles of energy to join the team at Level 3. 
The Invisible Worlds project will include major art and science exhibits, temporary exhibitions, a live arts and science programme, performance and storytelling, a working lab, public workshops, a café and themed exploratory play areas.
 
The role of the level 3 Narrator is to be an intelligent, interactive and passionate member of the team with great presentation skills who can adapt to the various learning styles of our visitors. You will maximise opportunities to bring the site and particularly the Invisible Worlds exhibits alive with well researched engagement through conversation, props and stories using flair, theatre or play holding a mixed audience for a minimum of 30 minutes. You will be able to learn to deliver overview guided tours in the biomes and gardens; hence, you will have a thorough knowledge of the Guide book and have a clear understanding of the Eden Project, its aims and ethos. This is an exciting, varied and diverse role where you will use your innovative and interactive engagement as an opportunity to bring out behavioral change and contribute to the transformational change the team continuously aspires to deliver. 
 
Importantly you should be a pro-active team player happy to work on a rotation that covers positions within Eden and its Biomes supporting the full Narrator team effort.
