The initiative marks the next chapter in Eden's education mission to inspire and equip learners to help create, and flourish in, a world where people and the rest of nature can thrive. Since opening in 2001, more than 750,000 children and young people have visited the Eden Project on school and college trips, with around 30,000 students visiting each year. Through its on-site programme of almost 40 curriculum-linked workshops and a growing online learning offer, Eden provides nature-connected learning for sustainability to tens of thousands of learners nationwide each year.
Supported by funding from the BA Better World Community Fund, the educational charity will significantly expand its programme of curriculum-linked live lessons, investing in new broadcasting equipment and software to help bring the Eden Project into more classrooms across the UK and beyond.
Eden Project Live Learning builds on the success of Eden's growing livestream programme, which has already connected more than 75,000 young people in countries including the UK, Canada, the USA, Japan, Portugal and the Netherlands. Last year alone, the Eden Project engaged with more than 80,000 learners through a combination of on-site visits, workshops, livestreams and digital learning resources.
Eden Project Live Learning will be made available free of charge during the 2026/27 academic year. It will initially be open to primary schools, providing access to a structured programme of interactive live lessons streamed directly from the Eden Project in Cornwall. Future plans include expanding the offer to secondary schools, colleges and universities.
The lessons will give children the opportunity to join interactive broadcasts from locations across the Eden Project, including its iconic Rainforest Biome, exploring topics such as biodiversity, tropical rainforests, sustainability, food systems, climate change and the connections between people and the natural world.
Sam Kendall, Head of Education at the Eden Project, said:
"Education has been at the heart of the Eden Project since the day we opened 25 years ago. Over that time, we've welcomed hundreds of thousands of young people to Cornwall and helped them discover the connections between people, plants and the wider living world. As we look ahead to the next 25 years, we want to share those opportunities with even more children and young people.
"Eden is a living classroom, but not every child can make that journey. This new membership will allow us to bring some of the experiences, stories and expertise that make Eden special directly into classrooms across the UK and beyond.
"We hope it will inspire more young people to understand the connections between people and nature and help them see the role they can play in shaping a positive future."
Carrie Harris, Director of Sustainability at British Airways, said:
"We're proud to support the Eden Project through the BA Better World Community Fund. Education has a vital role to play in helping young people understand the world around them and inspiring positive action for the future.
“Eden Project Live Learning will help bring Eden's unique learning experiences to thousands more children, wherever they are. Alongside supporting community wildflower habitats and the development of Eden's new Seed Lab, our partnership reflects our shared commitment to creating opportunities for people to connect with nature and learn more about biodiversity. Thank you to our customers and colleagues for their support.”
