Eden Project to host the best wedding yet - “a wedding that no one will ever forget” - as it brings The Scarecrows’ Wedding to Life this February Half Term

This February half term (14 – 22 February 2026), the Eden Project will bring to life one of Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s most cherished stories as The Scarecrows’ Wedding takes over the gardens and Biomes for nine days of immersive, family fun.

Following the BBC One premiere of the new animated adaptation of the heart-warming story on Christmas Day 2025, Eden is keeping the magic alive for families. In partnership with Magic Light Pictures, the Eden Project invites visitors to step into the world of Betty O’Barley and Harry O’Hay for a family adventure launching aptly on Valentine’s Day.

Inspired by the scarecrows’ quest to create “the best wedding yet,” the programme encourages families to join in the preparations for the happy couple’s special day through trails, craft workshops, storytelling, dress‑up, live music and dancing.

Set against a vibrant backdrop that brings the story to life throughout the iconic destination, the experience celebrates the tale’s warm reminder that it’s not grand gestures that matter most, but the simple joy of being together.

The Scarecrows’ Wedding trail will lead visitors on an adventure through the Outdoor Gardens and both the Rainforest and Mediterranean Biomes, with each stop bringing a moment from the story to life. Along the way, visitors can collect stamps, uncover lines from the book and enjoy creative activities such as trying their hand at rope weaving.

Families can then enjoy daily readings of The Scarecrows’ Wedding in the Mediterranean Biome, followed by live band performances each day to transform the space into a jubilant scarecrow wedding party.

In the Core building’s top‑floor gallery, the new BBC animation will be shown four times daily alongside themed craft activities, including make‑your‑own wedding bouquet flowers.

Simon Townsend, Eden Project general manager, said: “The Scarecrows’ Wedding is a much‑loved Julia Donaldson tale – full of romance, adventure and heart – and launching our half‑term programme on Valentine’s Day feels like the perfect fit. Just like Betty and Harry, adventurers can get creative to make the best wedding yet with hands‑on craft, music, dance and storytelling.

“The Eden Project is all about connection, bringing people together and creating wonderful memories, which makes it a natural home for celebrating the story’s gentle reminder that simple, joyful moments together matter most.”

A family favourite, The Scarecrows’ Wedding is a joyful tale about loyalty and love. It follows two devoted scarecrows, Betty O’Barley and Harry O’Hay, who are planning a wedding to remember. When Harry leaves the farm and a smooth-talking rival named Reginald Rake causes chaos, Harry must get back in time to save the day.

Visitors for half term can also enjoy Cornwall’s most‑loved ice rink, which is open until 22 February. The glittering undercover rink offers bookable sessions, lessons and family‑friendly or toddler play sessions, priced from £9 per child and £11 for adults.

Admission for February half term is priced from £38 for adults and £12 for children, with under‑fives admitted free of charge. Visitors receiving Universal Credit, Pension Credit or UK Legacy Credit can enter for £10.

Residents of Devon and Cornwall can purchase a Locals’ Pass from £24.80 per adult and £10.30 per child, now available year‑round.
