Four days left to enter the Omaze Cornwall house prize draw: life changing prize, place changing impact

A guaranteed £1 million raised through the Omaze Million Pound House Draw is providing a significant boost to the next phase of development for Eden Project Morecambe, as plans continue towards opening the pioneering new destination overlooking Morecambe Bay in 2028.

Online entries to win the £3.4 million house in Cornwall close 31 May 2026. The funds raised from the draw will support work on Eden Project Morecambe – a new destination for the charity focused on nature, education and wellbeing – designed to create hundreds of green jobs and contribute to long-term economic and social renewal in the North West. While the project is progressing following the granting of planning permission in February 2026, the guaranteed donation strengthens momentum and awareness as the charity brings its established approach to a new region.

The announcement comes as the Eden Project marks 25 years since opening in Cornwall, where the charity has built one of the UK’s most successful regeneration and education initiatives. Since opening, Eden Cornwall has welcomed more than 25 million visitors, contributed £6.8 billion to the South West economy, sustained an average of 700 jobs each year, and enabled more than one million schoolchildren to take part in nature-based learning.

Andy Jasper, CEO of the Eden Project, said: “Eden Project Morecambe is built on everything we’ve learned over the past 25 years in Cornwall. That experience shows that sustained investment in nature, skills and education can deliver lasting benefits for people and places.

The guaranteed £1 million raised through this partnership provides important momentum as we move forward. We’re excited to see the total raised after the online draw closes on 31 May and encourage everyone who can to take part.”

While the Omaze draw offers one entrant the chance to win a multi–million–pound house in Cornwall alongside a £250,000 cash prize, Eden is clear that the wider impact lies in what the funding enables. Omaze has guaranteed a £1 million donation to Eden Project Morecambe and has raised well over £100 million for UK charities to date.

The new world-class destination for Morecambe will create hundreds of jobs during construction and operation, attract year-round visitors, and support local businesses and cultural partners, delivering long‑term economic, educational and wellbeing benefits across Lancashire and Cumbria.

At its heart will be two immersive, shell‑inspired superstructures: the bright, tropical Realm of the Sun, centred around a dramatic 18‑metre Elder Tree, and the atmospheric Realm of the Moon, inspired by the tidal rhythms, landscapes and stories of Morecambe Bay.

Over the past 25 years, Eden Project Cornwall has demonstrated how long-term investment can translate into real socio-economic benefit. Beyond welcoming millions of visitors, its impact is reflected in the green careers it has launched, the confidence and employability it has helped to build, and the education programmes that have influenced teaching and learning far beyond Cornwall. From apprentices progressing into leadership roles to volunteers rebuilding wellbeing and returning to work, Eden’s model shows how access to nature can support livelihoods as well as learning.

Creative programme producer Kate Francis is another example of Eden’s long-term impact. She joined the Eden Project at 18, fresh out of college and unsure of her direction, and is now 42. After training as a guide and discovering a passion for cultural plant history, she delivered talks to hundreds of visitors, led rainforest tours and told the stories of plants that underpin human civilisation. Wanting to move from talking to making, she helped establish Eden’s workshop team – a programme that later evolved into Eden Live, now responsible for the destination’s renowned seasonal and cultural programmes.

These human outcomes, alongside Eden’s wider economic contribution, form the blueprint now being applied to Eden Project Morecambe.

Matt Pohlson, Founder and CEO of Omaze, said: “This draw gives people the chance to win a remarkable prize while also supporting a project with clear social, environmental and economic value. Eden Project Morecambe builds on a track record that shows what’s possible when communities, education and nature come together.

As Eden celebrates its 25th anniversary, we’ve heard countless powerful stories about the long-term benefits the charity brings, and we’re proud to support the extension of that impact to the North.”

The project also aligns with growing recognition of the role that nature plays in improving health and wellbeing. Research shows that spending just two hours a week in nature can deliver measurable benefits, particularly for communities experiencing health inequalities. At the end of 2025, Eden announced more than £2 million in funding from the National Lottery Climate Action Fund for a UK–wide nature connection and recovery initiative rolling out across six locations, including Morecambe, over the next three years.

The £1 million donation will form part of a mixed, long-term funding model combining philanthropy, partnerships, grants and public support – the same approach that allowed Eden Project Cornwall to grow into a globally recognised destination.

The new Eden in Morecambe is being delivered in partnership with Lancaster City Council, Lancashire County Council and Lancaster University, with support from UK Government investment. The project has been designed to complement the heritage of the promenade, including the Midland Hotel and the Grade II*‑listed Winter Gardens and will open fully in 2028.

Online entries for the Omaze Million Pound House Draw, Cornwall – supported by Sophie Ellis‑Bextor, Eden Project Ambassador – close on Sunday 31 May (Tuesday 2nd June 2026 for postal entries). Every entry contributes to the guaranteed £1 million donation supporting Eden Project Morecambe, helping extend a model with a 25‑year track record of positive impact into the North West.
