Walk with Me story app by Kneehigh Theatre

Discover Eden in a new way with two new story walks created with Cornish writers alongside our community.

Cornwall’s international theatre company, Kneehigh, has included the walks in their free story app, Walk With Me.

How the app works

The Walk With Me app features delightful, funny and often moving stories from all over Cornwall that have been reimagined – and in some cases wildly exaggerated – by Kneehigh writers. The app triggers stories using GPS tracking as you wander around Eden and in villages, towns and clifftops across the county. The stories are brought to life by Cornish artists and the local community.

It’s the perfect socially-distanced activity and can be enjoyed alone or with family and friends.

All the stories on the app are also available in Armchair Mode for those who can’t visit the St Austell area. If you’re missing out on your visit to Cornwall and the Eden Project due to the coronavirus, or you’re shielding at home, this is the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in the area’s landscape and voices.

Choose your walk

The first walk is through the Outdoor Gardens at the Eden Project, with a story or two in each of the indoor Biomes. The stories, poems and illustrations were created by Anna Maria Murphy and Mr Alan Clarke when the Eden Project opened in 2000, and are inspired by the plants on site from around the world.

The second walk takes you on a trail through the Eden Project’s Outer Estate where you’ll discover wildflower meadows, woodlands, sculpture and views of Cornwall’s unique china clay mining landscape. The stories have been gathered and re-imagined by Wyl Menmuir, from local residents participating in the Nature’s Way programme, part of Eden Project Communities. They give a flavour of life in the ‘Clay’ villages both past and present.

There are also new story walks in the town centre of nearby St Austell.
