Eden Project Florilegium Society Exhibition

To mark the Worldwide Day of Botanical Art, we are proud to host a special exhibition from the Eden Project Florilegium Society — a quiet yet powerful tribute to the enduring bond between art and the natural world.

Immersed by botanical life and art

This calm and contemplative display features 12 botanical artworks. Four each from the Rainforest Biome, Mediterranean Biome, and Outdoor Gardens. We invite visitors to explore both the beauty of the illustrations and the living plants they depict using the map, available to collect at the exhibition.

About the exhibition

Set on the top floor of the Core building, between the café and the Gallery, the exhibition offers an opportunity to pause, observe, and connect more deeply with the plant world through the eyes of artists.

A map will guide visitors to the locations of the real plants across Eden, and throughout the weekend there will be live demonstrations by botanical artists, along with the opportunity to try illustration techniques yourself. A stunning slideshow of exceptional works from botanical illustrators the world over will accompany the display.

Preserving precious plants through art

Formed in 2000, the Eden Project Florilegium Society exists to record the extraordinary diversity of plant life at Eden and throughout Cornwall, through the practice of traditional botanical illustration. Working closely with Eden’s horticultural team, the Society’s members use watercolour, ink, and pencil to create scientifically accurate artworks that serve as both an artistic celebration and a lasting botanical record.

The Florilegium’s work reflects Eden’s core mission: to inspire a deeper understanding of the natural world and our place within it by demonstrating and inspiring positive action. By capturing the detail and essence of each plant species, these artists help preserve knowledge, spark curiosity, and nurture a sense of wonder — values that lie at the heart of the Eden Project.
